OceanGate Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that advances understanding of the ocean by providing grants in support of scientific and archaeological marine research, with an emphasis on innovative technologies such as human-occupied submersibles; and by supporting efforts to engage and inspire explorers, researchers, civic leaders and others in the public who share an interest in understanding the ocean. The foundation is the primary philanthropic partner of OceanGate Expeditions.
The foundation is supporting scientific and archaeological research focused on marine life, history, and archaeology on a multi-year expedition to survey the world’s most famous shipwreck.
The foundation has supported mapping of the Hudson Canyon, enabling the addition of important digital database layers, such as coral locations and shipwreck sites, in this area now being considered for designation as a new national marine sanctuary.
The ocean is the largely unexplored. We are on a mission to discover it.
OceanGate Foundation was founded by entrepreneurs and scientists who are driven by the wonder and challenge of deep sea exploration.
Our mission is to fuel underwater discoveries in nautical archaeology, marine sciences and subsea technology through public outreach and supplemental financial support.
